Dematic L&A adds to RF range with LXE

Dematic has added LXE RF (Radio Frequency) mobile computers to its range of wireless data communications technologies, as part of its "best of breed" approach to systems integration.

John Bot, Dematic’s Manager Real-Time Logistics group, said the US-manufactured LXE RF equipment added greater depth and versatility to the company’s wireless data solutions capabilities.

" LXE has been one of the world’s leading innovators in RF technology in recent years. It has developed a couple of unique products that we believe have great potential for wider application by RF users in Australia and New Zealand.

" The MX3 dual-function RF mobile computer is designed to be used as both a hand-held and a vehicle-mounted unit. This hybrid unit provides excellent flexibility in supply chain applications like order picking, where it can be used on a variety of materials handling equipment including pallet trucks, picking trolleys, forklifts and the like, or simply carried by hand.

" The MX5 RF terminal is another leader in its field," said Mr Bot.

" This unit is specifically designed to withstand harsh conditions in outdoor applications like shipping ports, with LXE also manufacturing a range of totally sealed units for use in extreme and flameproof environments," he said.

LXE’s Managing Director in Australia, Richard Adams, said he was delighted Dematic had decided to become a distribution partner.

" Dematic has an excellent reputation when it comes to wireless data systems integration in logistics and supply chain applications, and we look forward to working with the Real-Time Logistics group to further improve awareness of our RF solutions.

" Dematic’s 24/7 technical support and nationwide implementation capability has already proved to be extremely attractive to many of our existing and prospective customers in Australia and New Zealand,” he said.

LXE RF systems have been distributed in Australasia for 14 years, with major installations in warehousing and distribution, container terminals and transport yards.

Dematic provides single source wireless data systems integration, drawing on technology from several of the world leaders in IT systems including Symbol, PsionTeklogix and Vocollect. The Real-Time Logistics group specialises in multi-vendor wireless network and IT systems integration for order fulfillment and logistics applications. It has implemented more than 5000 mobile computing devices and 100s of wireless networks at over 400 sites across eight countries in the Asia Pacific region.
