The customer’s host computer system, typically a
WMS, downloads orders to PickDIRECTOR for picking tasks to be created. PickDIRECTOR
then manages the order picking technologies and material flow system to facilitate
accurate and timely order execution. The actual picking results are then transferred
back to the customer’s host computer.
PickDIRECTOR has an easily configurable host interfact
via modern xml to http messging for the latest B2B software applications and
file based interface for legacy systems.
Modular and Easy to Use
All PickDIRECTOR modules are fully integrated and communicate
with each other, providing flexibility in physical layout and allowing new functionality
to be added without interruption to normal operations.
The PickDIRECTOR suite of applications is being continuously
enhanced and updated to take advantage of newly emerging picking technologies
and software development tools and methodologies. Enhancements are made available
for implementation on existing sites through regular updates, ensuring customers
have access to new features and functionality and enabling them to maintain their
IT infrastructure on updated system software, such as new release versions of
Microsoft Windows.
Configuration
PickDIRECTOR contains configurable order fulfilment modules.
During system design, the software configuration is determined with the customer.
The configuration includes items such as:
- Warehouse layout and locations, including picking sequences
- Choice and configuration of picking methodologies
- The host interface, including selection of messages and fields from the
available standards and upload file formats
- Carton routing rules to include elements such as QA stations, invoice stations,
repack areas
- Despatch label layouts.
Scalable Architecture
Because its system architecture is totally scalable and
functionality is determined by the number of modules required, PickDIRECTOR can
be configured to suit order processing operations of all shapes and sizes, making
the benefits available to even low volume distributors.
