Palletising
- The Options
Dematic manufactures the widest range
of package handling conveyors in Australia. As
such, the company is often asked to interface
its conveyor systems with a range of palletising
options.
The following illustration and summary of the more popular methods of
palletising is provided by Dematic.
High Speed Dedicated
Palletising
Suitable for very high volume lines. Has own dedicated conveyor which
should include sufficient accumulation to provide a buffer storage zone
to allow for small hold-ups at either end.
Non-Dedicated
Full Pallet Palletising
Where the volume of individual product lines does not justify a high
speed dedicated palletiser, the use of a non-dedicated full pallet palletiser
in conjunction with multiple lanes of accumulation conveyor may be the
most cost-effective solution, with products accumulating until a full
pallet load is ready to be palletised.
Layer Palletising
Suitable for applications where low volume, mixed products need to be
palletised. Different products can be automatically sorted into dedicated
lanes by the conveyor system enabling multiple pallets to be assembled
at one time. Requires sufficient accumulation for layers to be assembled.
Robotic Palletising
Can operate with dedicated or multiple conveyors, with either conveyor
or robot controls being used to identify product type for palletising
sequence. May be desirable to accumulate pallet loads to maximise palletising
efficiency.
Manual Palletising
Suitable where volumes do not justify capital expenditure on any of the
above. Efficiency can be maximised by presenting goods in pallet assembly
sequence. Inexpensive to add gravity wheel accumulation conveyor or a
live roller recirculating loop.
